Help Albert Melendez Conquer POEMS Syndrome
Donation protected
Albert Melendez is one of the most Kind and Humble men I know. He's an 18-year veteran of RNDC, and was diagnosed with POEMS syndrome, a rare blood disorder that damages your nerves and affects other parts of your body. One of the treatments for this illness is a Stem Cell Transplant and chemo. It's been a long, tough road for Albert, who has spent three weeks in the hospital during this Stem Cell Transplant journey. I understand the frustration and debilitating effects on oneself of having to be in a hospital for weeks on end. I have tried to keep his spirits up through conversations and texts, but he's the one who keeps me inspired. Here's what he texted me right after his transplant:
"We finally finished
Just feeling exhausted
It’s because of the extra drugs they gave me.
All okay -
I am a warrior
I am strong
I am smart
I am kind
I am a son of GOD
❤️✝️ Sent from my iPhone."
What a "Fantastic Attitude" after being through all he's endured.
Unfortunately, Alberts's journey has been demanding. He has experienced the Stem Cell Transplant, 4 blood transfusions, chemotherapy and has spent over three weeks in the City of Hope in Duarte, CA. They kept him a week longer than expected due to low white blood cell counts. Albert is a Strong Person. Unfortunately, it has not only taken a toll on his body but also on his finances. Our team discussed opening a Gofundme page, so here we are. We are looking to raise $5000, which he communicated he has paid over and above his insurance coverage and deductible. Please donate or pick up the phone and wish him the best! He's doing better and feels better, but it will take years for him to recover fully. Thank You All in Advance!
