Help Aleks who lost his income due to the invasion
Donation protected
Aleks (pictured right) has been a major contributor to OpenStreetMap and Mapillary over the last 7 years. Unfortunately the invasion of Ukraine has led to a loss of income for him and his family. They have had to leave their house in Kyiv to seek safety elsewhere. With buildings nearby being destroyed, he is not sure when he can return home with his wife and children.
In 2019 Aleks and his family joined the Mapillary team at OpenStreetMap's State of the Map conference in Heidelberg, Germany to talk about his mapping efforts. They drove from Kyiv to Heidelberg and spoke about Alek's work to map waste disposal throughout Kyiv. You can see him pictured with Henry from Uganda. It is one of many things Aleks has done to map Ukraine.
Ukraine is now one of Mapillary's strongest communities and regularly contributes the most images in global challenges. Aleks' is a trusted voice in the community and his hard work is why Mapillary coverage in Ukraine is so extensive. He cares deeply about his city and how it can be made more liveable for all.
Any donation you can make will help Aleks and his family buy essential supplies during these uncertain times. Aleks has been given access so that he can add his bank details. 100% of proceeds will go to Aleks and his family.
