Help Alex getting a hearing aid!
Donation protected
Hey friends! My name is Alex and I'm raising funds for a hearing aid.
I experienced my first ever vertigo episode at 16 years old and it persisted in periodic episodes throughout my life. It wasn't until almost 10 years later in 2020 that I was finally diagnosed with Ménière's disease in my right ear.
Ménière's disease is characterized by episodes of vertigo (spinning/dizziness), hearing loss, tinnitus and ear pressure -- all of which can be extremely uncomfortable and mentally tolling to experience, especially at once.
Recently, I suffered sudden hearing loss and am experiencing all of those symptoms in addition to that. A last minute audiology report and doctors visit confirmed that my Ménière's has spread to my left ear and my hearing has subsided significantly.
I am now undergoing the process of being fitted and consulted for a hearing aid and will soon be undergoing a trial period with one as well, per California law.
In the meantime, I was made aware that my insurance (as most) unfortunately does not cover the hearing aid so will likely need any financial support I could get with this transition to get the best hearing aid suited for my needs.
This is a very emotional transition for me and I'm not so use to be this open regarding health conditions so I appreciate you reading this all and sharing, even if you are unable to donate.
Thank you in advance for any support received!
