Help Alex Madeline record his debut Album

Hi, Alex Madeline here, let me tell you about my music.

I dreamt about this project for some years now but never had the chance to make it happen until now.

Living in New York City as an artist always inspired me, motivated me, but is also very difficult, “the city ain’t cheap!”

For a long time, I had songs playing in my head but lacked the resources to make them come to life. After years of hard work and struggle, I can finally start this project and share some of the music I have inside of me.

Born in France, I started my musical journey with classical music. I played the violin for a brief time before switching to the saxophone around 14 years old. I entered the conservatories and discovered incredible music of a range of genres. I studied classical saxophone, classical composition, arrangement, chamber music

Then a later on, I decided to switch to Jazz because I was interested in and captured by the freedom of improvisation and the interaction with the other musicians. I always felt like I was communicating through a language with infinite possibilities.

What draws me to jazz and music is how it echoes life in its compositions with constant surprises.

My musical journey led me to Boston where I attended Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, I met musicians from all around the world, I studied with some of my musical heroes that I was lucky to call mentors (George Garzone, Bill Pierce, Hal Crook) and I performed with incredible artists at exciting places (Carnegie Hall in NYC, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Mugham Center in Baku Azerbaijan, the Saint Germain dès après Jazz Festival in Paris, France and many more).

All of this led me to New York City, the city of endless creativity, inspiration, possibilities and motivation.

I moved to NYC in 2017, and I have never felt bored, not even one day. Every single time I go out to perform or/and listen to music, I discover talented musicians as well as my heroes. Then, when I go home, I just can’t wait to wake up and play, compose and check out more music!

The inspiration creates the motivation—it is like opening a door to an amazing room which leads you to another door and another door…and I love that feeling.

Most of my life I performed as a sideman, but I always loved and enjoyed composing and leading. I hadn’t had the financial ressources to make what I had in my heart and mind come to fruition.

Now has come the time to express myself as a bandleader and composer.

“Direction” is one of the compositions that will be featured in my upcoming album, a taste of what I have been writing for a while. It features some of the best musicians in New York City, Vocalist Sami Stevens, Guitarist Michael Valeanu, Pianist Chris McCarthy, Bassist Clovis Nicolas, Drummer Clemens Grassmann and Myself on Tenor Saxophone. In addition to this sextet, there is a string quartet with Sara Caswell on first violin, Joyce Hammann on Violin two, Lois Martin on Viola and Jody Redhage on Cello.

Aside from playing my music, one of the biggest joys was to write it and arrange it.

Writing for strings can be very challenging but the result is also very satisfying.

I titled this song Direction, because we always need and find a direction in everything we do.

I asked my good friend and amazing Singer/Song Writer Russell Jamie Johnson to write lyrics for the song. I showed him the music and told him the “mood”, “Vibe” I was looking for. Russell came out with a love story, beautiful words with this repetitive phrase “All…all that I need, is some Direction…”. I felt in love with his lyrics right away!

This project couldn’t have happen without the great help of Producer Jannek Zechner who put his genius at work and helped me produce and arrange it ! And also without the talent of this amazing team of musicians !

I hope you will enjoy listening to this song as much as I enjoyed writing and playing it! The album will come out during the summer of 2022 and I am requesting any financial support from my viewers to aid me in my goals for this album and make it happen in the most beautiful way possible.

Bonjour à tous, ici Alex Madeline, laissez moi vous parler de ma musique.

Je rêve de ce projet depuis des années mais n’ai jamais pu le réaliser jusqu’à maintenant.

Vivre a New York City en rent qu’Artiste m’a toujours inspiré, motivé mais c’est aussi très difficile. “Cette ville coûte cher !”

Depuis quelques temps, j’ai des chansons dans la tête mais dû à un manque de resources, je n’ai jamais pu leur donner vie. Après quelques années de lute et de dure labeur, je peux finalement débuter ce projet et partager une partie de la musique que j’ai en moi.

Né en France, j’ai commencé avec la musique classique. J’ai joué du violon pendant une courte période et puis j’ai changé pour le saxophone vers mes 14 ans. Je suis ensuite rentré au conservatoire ou j’ai découvert d’incroyable musiques et musiciens. J’ai étudié le saxophone classique, la compositions, l’arrangement et la Music de chambre.

Ensuite autour de mes 20 ans j’ai décidé de jouer du jazz parce que j’étais intéressé et capturé par la liberté de l’improvisation et de l’interaction avec les autres musiciens. J’ai toujours ressenti que je communiquais avec un language qui a des possibilité infini !

La Musique ma ensuite dirigé à Boston où je j’ai étudié à Berklee College of Music.

A Berklee, j’ai rencontré des musiciens venant du monde entier, j’ai étudié avec certains de mes héros que je suis chanceux d’appeler mentors (George Garzone, Bill Pierce, Hal Crook) et j’ai joué avec d’incroyables artistes dans de très belles salles de concerts (Carnegie Hall a New York City, Kennedy Center a Washington DC, le Mugham Center a Baku en Azerbaïdjan et bien d’autres).

Tout cela m’a conduit à New York City, la ville où l’imaginaire, l’inspiration, la motivation et les possibilités n’ont pas de fin.

J’ai déménagé à NYC en 2017 et depuis ce temps, je ne me suis jamais ennuyer, pas une seul journée.

A chaque fois que je sort pour jouer ou écouter un concert, je découvre de talentueux musiciens ou j’écoute mes héros. Ensuite que and je rentre chez moi, je ne peux attendre de me réveiller les lendemains pour jouer, composer et écouter d’autre musiques incroyables.

L’inspiration donne lieux à la motivation, c’est comme ouvrir la porte d’une salle incroyable qui conduit à une autre porte et à une autre porte etc…et j’adore ce sentiment.

La plupart de ma vie j’ai joué en tant que “side man”, jouant la musique d’autre musiciens. Mais j’ai toujours aimer composer. Je n’avais pas les ressources pour mettre a jour ce que j’avais au fond de moi.

C’est maintenant le temps de m’exprimer en tant que “band leader” et que compositeur.

“Direction” est une de mes compositions qui appartient à mon prochain album, c’est un “avant goût” de ce que j’ai pu écrire depuis quelques temps.

Pour ce titre, j’ai choisi des musiciens exceptionnels de New York, Sami Stevens au chant, Michael Valeanu à la Guitar, Chris McCarthy au piano, Clovis Nicolas à la Contrebasse et Clemens Grassmann à la batterie (Et moi même au Saxophone Ténor). En addition de ce sextet, il y a un quatuor à cordes avec Sara Caswell au violon 1, Joyce Hammann au violon 2, Lois Martin au Viola et Jody Redhage au Violoncelle.

Autre que jouer ma musique, une de mes plus grande joie était de la composer. Écrire pour quatuor à corde peut être “challenging” mais le résultat est très satisfaisant.

J’ai nommé cette composition “Direction” parce que nous avons toujours besoins de trouver une direction dans ce que nous faisons.

J’ai demandé à mon ami et talentueux Chanteur/Song Writer Russell Jamie Johnson d’écrire les paroles pour la chanson. Je leur ai présenté la musique en lui indiquant le style et les sentiments que je voulais exprimer et Russel ma propose une histoire d’amour avec de très jolies mots, don’t cette phrase que se répète “All…all that I need, is some Direction…” j’ai tout de suite adoré.

Ce projet n’aurai pas pu voir le jour sans la collaboration avec le Producteur Jannek Zechner qui a su mettre son génie à profit et ma aider à produire et arranger ce morceau. Et aussi le talent ce cette incroyable équipe de musiciens.

J’espère que vous apprécierez écouter ce morceau autant que j’ai aimé le composer et l’interpréter. L’album sortira pendant l’été 2022, je demande donc votre soutient financier pour atteindre mon but de produire ce projet de la plus belle façon possible.
