Help Alex Provide Emergency Tree Work in WNC
Donation protected
Alex Stearns-Bernhart, an ISA Certified Arborist and Burnsville, NC local, wants to offer skilled, affordable tree work and removals for as many people as he can in the wake of hurricane Helene. His recently founded company, Good Dog Tree Care, is currently small, consisting of himself, his partner and of course their good dog Daisy. Alex is a skilled climber, and has successfully been removing hazard trees near homes and hauling debris off without the use of large machinery aside from a landscape trailer and tarp. But Helene’s aftermath has posed a more widespread, immediate need for addressing riskier, messier and more complicated trees, and he is feeling the need to rapidly expand his bandwidth.
All money raised will go to purchasing two pieces of equipment to make work faster, safer and more affordable. These are: a large dump trailer (est. cost ~$9,000) to haul debris off at an affordable price for those in need, and a ‘GRCS’ (est. cost ~$3,500) also known as a ‘Good Rigging Control System’, which is a compact device that supports and lifts trees/limbs hanging over precarious areas, such as homes. Alex will prioritize jobs involving immenently dangerous trees that were damaged in the storm and are posing an immediate threat to homeowners, renters or small businesses. He will also prioritize clean-up jobs at a discounted rate that are interfering with home or business access, and especially to those who might not otherwise be able to afford the work.
Alex loves trees and loves Western NC and wants to do as much as he can to take care of his community in this unprecedented time. Please consider donating to help mobilize his expertise to as many affected folks as possible. Thank you!
