Hi, I’m Alex—a transgender woman living in Seattle—and I’m asking for your help.

I began my transition in 2019. These last few years have been filled with moments of growth, discomfort, clarity, and pain. I’ve stayed committed to living as myself, even when that path has been hard. There have been times I had to pause hormone therapy—not because I wanted to, but because I couldn’t afford it or was simply overwhelmed by the weight of dysphoria. But I’ve kept going. I’ve survived.

Hormone therapy has helped, but it hasn’t solved everything. Despite how I present—feminine clothing, makeup, years of effort—I’m still regularly misgendered. Every “sir” and “he” cuts deeper than it should. It’s exhausting. It reinforces that I’m still not seen for who I am.

A big part of my dysphoria centers on my midsection and body shape. No amount of exercise, dieting, or hormones has been enough to get my body to align with my identity. That’s why I’ve decided to move forward with gender-affirming body feminization surgery—including liposuction and fat grafting to the hips, thighs, and butt, as well as breast augmentation.

This isn’t cosmetic—it’s life-changing. It’s the difference between surviving and thriving.

What I’m Raising Funds For:

• Surgery cost: $24,434 out-of-pocket

• COBRA health insurance: $855/month × 3 months during recovery

• Total goal: $27,000

I’m currently unemployed and in the middle of a long, frustrating fight with my insurance provider to get this procedure covered. I can’t afford to wait indefinitely. Recovery also means I’ll be unable to work for a while—even if something came through tomorrow.

This is me asking for a chance. Not for perfection, not for luxury—just for a body I can live in. Just for a future where I can breathe a little easier, walk through the world a little safer, and see myself in the mirror without flinching.
