Help Alexandra Get Emergency Housing Repairs Covered
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Alexandra Tomlinson and this year I reached a huge goal and purchased a home to ensure I can live independently despite my health problems.
I've been on disability since 2018 due to debilitating migraines and am only able to work on a very limited basis. Purchasing my century home for only 35k felt like an unreal opportunity and I've put the rest of my money towards bringing it up to a livable standard. However, I vastly underestimated what would be needed to heat the home over the winter.
EDIT: The original fundraiser for a Mini Split at $4500 has been postponed due to emergency sewer replacement.
I have updated the funding goal:
After finding a leak which has been the source of a sewer smell in my home, a plumber came to inspect. The problem under my home is far more than a leak - the cast iron pipe is beginning to crumble. But beyond my home, the sewer line going to the main is full of mud. This brings up legal questions as my home was sold to me with the information that the "sewer line from the house to the main" are new.
To repair this could be $13,000, half due up front. I can secure financing to use a loan to cover the costs beyond what I have in savings, but just as with the mini split, the month to month payments are far beyond my means.
Because of this. I will not have heat. I have canceled my roofing repairs. I am frankly in need of a miracle. I have increased my GoFundMe Goal to $8.3k.

UPDATE 12/11
With the work now complete, it came in under the worst case scenario. The total Sewer Line Repair cost $9,500.

With these more favorable numbers, I've been able to reduce the Go Fund Me Goal to $6000. This helps me repay the $5000 loan and helps cover some of the excess costs I had to pay up front. Repaying the loan will allow for future financing of other projects, but for this winter I will still not have heat.
The loan payment begin in January and I will need to raise at least $120 a month to comfortably cover them. Thank y'all for the support.
