Help Alexandra Rebuild After Domestic Abuse

Hello everyone. My name is Shannon, and I am raising money on behalf of (and with permission from) one of my good friends, Alexandra Vo. A recent series of events has left her with a good sum of unexpected expenses. Some help from those who love her, and those who want to support women escaping domestic abuse, would be indescribably helpful for her in this time.

Alex had already been struggling with her mental health for a few months now, being in and out of the ER for her panic disorder (which got to the point of passing out multiple times in public). And unfortunately, just a few days ago, she discovered that her long time partner had been cheating on her with multiple women. Understandably, Alex decided to leave their shared apartment. And with everything, she felt as though she was a danger to herself in that moment. She expressed to me that she needed to go to the hospital and be put into inpatient to be monitored.

I met her that night at her apartment, and helped her gather a lot of her things - important documents, some clothes for the hospital, and her dog Juno (who is currently staying with me). Our plan was that I would return to her apartment the next day and gather up all her things to keep at my place until she was released from the hospital. Neither of us expected that her then ex would decide to throw out all of her clothes, shoes, and many of her other belongings that night after we left. While I was still able to go and collect her remaining things the next day, she lost hundreds of dollars in items - which we wont know the full extent of until she is released from inpatient and able to look through what little is left of her things.

Thankfully in the hospital, she has been able to receive care from professional mental health counselors - who have helped her realize that she has been dealing with domestic abuse for her entire relationship. She has decided it would be best for her to move out of Jersey City, and move back with her mom in Florida once released from the hospital - This also means that Alex has had to quit her job suddenly.

This fundraiser will help cover the cost of her time in the hospital and the replacement of clothes/shoes lost. Additionally, her mom has had to purchase a last minute flight to Jersey City, as well as a rental car so they can drive back to Florida together with her things and her dog, Juno. Gas, food, and motel costs will add up.

Anyone who has ever met Alex will tell you that she is one of the sweetest people in the world. It breaks my heart to see her going through all of this, but I am so, so proud of her for choosing to get help and having the strength to leave an abusive relationship. She is expected to be released this Monday 10/28, and my hope is that we can at least have some donations started in here to help ease some of her financial fears.
