Help Alexia in her fight with Stage 4 Cancer

Hi, I am Alexia's Mom and for those of you who have been following Alexia's story through her fight with invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer, it is with great sadness that we have to inform you that her cancer has spread. On August 18th Alexia had a ct scan done, and the results showed new masses. One in her right paratracheal lymph node, 1 in her right hilar node and 1 in her left hilar node. Then in her lung she has a 3.4 by 2.4 cm central lower lobe mass, a left upper lobe nodule and a right lower lobe nodule. She had a biopsy done on Monday 08/21 and on Wednesday 08/23 they called to let her know the same cancer has spread. Since they have done all the treatments and nothing really worked they gave her 3-4 years to live. No FDA approved treatments and no surgery will help at this point. They did say there might be some trial treatments they can get her into.
With this devastating news we started looking for other treatment plans and were referred to Hope 4 Cancer in Mexico. The consultation was great and anything at this point is worth a try! So we are starting a new GoFundMe to help her with treatments and travel, not to mention the medical bills she has already occurred.
For those of you who don't know Alexia's story, or those who just need a refresher...Alexia was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer in December of 2021, at the age of 24. The cancer was in her right breast, as well as a few lymph nodes. On January 3rd, 2022 we had a visit with her Oncologist before she started her 1st round of chemo and we were told the cancer had moved to a stage 3 because a new scan showed it was in several lymph nodes, as well as her internal mammary. Alexia went through 6 months of chemo, including Doxorubicin. At the end of the 6 months she had another scan which showed that her chemo treatments didn't work.
On August 1st, 2022 Alexia had her double mastectomy where they also did reconstructive surgery. They were able to get an implant in her left breast, but had to put an expander in her right because the skin wasn't stretched like they needed it to be. After a little recovery she started 5 weeks of radiation, Monday through Friday. After radiation they started her on oral chemo for 6 months.
Alexia went to an Oncologist appointment the end of January 2023 and was told her blood work looked great, no cancer cells! She finished out her oral chemo and in April was told her blood work still had no cancel cells and she was in remission. No scan was ever done. She had another surgery to finish her reconstructive surgery from her double mastectomy.
Once she healed from that last surgery she was able to start getting back to her normal life. Alexia started working again, went on a few vacations, and really just started to plan the future with her husband Gleny, babies, buying a house. Many dreams were in the works. Alexia's biggest excitement when she was told she was in remission was that she got to start living the life she wanted with her new husband. Alexia and Gleny had a blind double date the same week she was first diagnosed with cancer. She liked him so much but was so nervous to tell him about her diagnoses, she did it, she told him. As she told him he just looked at her and said "you think that is going to scare me away?" Gleny has stuck by her side through everything and they were married on October 24, 2022. He has been her rock through it all, from the very beginning.
Alexia was feeling a little nervous and anxious, so she decided she needed to have a scan done. We are glad she did! As you can imagine the news from the scans and her biopsy have crushed us! We are hoping and praying that even with the news we have received, and Alexia keeps fighting, keeps the positivity and hope alive, while doing different treatments, she WILL kick cancers ass!
Please pray, please share, and please help if it's on your heart to. Let's get this beautiful, young woman to the destination we feel will be her best chance!
