Help Alexis Create a Safe Home for Her Baby
Donation protected
Having a baby is beautiful, exhausting, and life-changing experience. It is something that can only be done with the support of the mother's community. That is why WE NEED YOU during this precious and precarious time in Alexis' life.
Alexis’ partner unexpectedly abandoned her and her daughter in her 3rd trimester, disappearing from their lives. She’s alone with her 5 year old daughter and is having challenges in her pregnancy. After already raising her daughter solo after her husband passed away from cancer when her daughter was just 6 months old, this is a particularly difficult reality for her family. She needs our support!
Alexis has been battling a respiratory infection and just found out that she has gestational diabetes which puts the baby at higher risk of being born with respiratory distress and may require NICU care. With everything she is facing, Alexis has decided to deliver the baby in Montana where she has family that can help and a state of the art hospital in her home town. She anticipates being away for 10-13 weeks, until she can obtain a passport for the new baby and return to San Miguel de Allende.
The one problem? Alexis and Melanie have nowhere comfortable to stay. This GoFundMe is to help them get a small AirBnB near her mom's house so she can walk to the hospital, Melanie's school, and to easily visit family. We hope that with all of our support, we can help bring Alexis' new baby into a comfy little nest that provides privacy, comfort, and enough space in her first few months with a new born.
These funds will also be used to help Alexis buy the last things she needs for her son: a baby bathtub, bouncer or swing, and a rocking chair. So, if you are looking to support Alexis in this tough time, please consider making a donation.
And, if you are in San Miguel de Allende, think about bringing her a home-cooked meal. You can sign up for her Meal Train here!
Together, we can help bring this baby into a truly loving community!
