Help Alexis Provide Comfort for Her Beloved Sable
Donation protected
UPDATE:
After careful consideration, I have decided humane euthanasia will be the kindest route to treat my beloved Sable versus chemical intervention via chemotherapy. She has severe mucopurulent (infectious) discharge from her eye and nose that has been serous (blood-tinged) in the past week and a half. I know the mass in her skull is ulcerated and infected, and fear the risks chemotherapy will have worsening that infection, and thus, not resolving her symptoms enough to be comfortable. Additionally, the involvement of her cancer in her brain, even with treatment, may result in neurological signs I simply cannot watch her experience (seizures, ataxia, mentation changes, etc). I’d give anything to have more time, to get her to September so I could take pictures with her after our white coat ceremony - but she’s telling me it’s time. As compliant as she is, she doesn’t want to be overly medicated, poked, prodded, and manhandled to clean dried discharge from her sore eye and nares. I’d rather give her a few more good days where she gets to live as she always has - being cuddled and cooed over and not being force fed antibiotics and steroids, than buy time.
Monday, January 20th, we will say good bye for now. As heartbroken as I am, I’m so profoundly touched from the outpouring of love from friends, family, and colleagues to help my baby. I’m honored so many people care about me and the Queen of my trinity of black cats.
Money from this fundraiser will help me pay for her final appointment and private cremation but it doesn’t feel right for me to keep the rest just to pad my pockets and offset costs from Sable’s diagnostics done at UT. Instead, I plan to utilize the rest to pay it forward for other animals in Sable’s honor. Food, litter, toys, and any other necessities will be purchased with the excess and donated to a local animal shelter. Any additional donations would be greatly appreciated to support this initiative. Sable has been invaluable in providing support and love to so many people and animals over the years - it’s the least I can do to repay the kindness she has embodied and the kindness you all have shown to me in this time.
Thank you all for everything you have done for us. We will never be able to truly express the depths of our appreciation. Give your own companions kisses and crushing hugs - we never have enough time.
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to ask for your help. Alexis’s beloved cat, Sable, has been diagnosed with lymphoma and needs chemotherapy to help keep her comfortable and improve her quality of life. The costs are significant, and Alexis, one of the kindest and most selfless people I know, could really use our support.
Sable has been more than just a pet—she’s helped raise kittens, donated blood to save other animals, and brought so much love and joy into Alexis’s life. Now, it’s our turn to help her.
If you can, please consider donating. If you’re not in a position to give, simply sharing this post can make a huge difference. Times are hard for everyone right now, and any support—whether it’s a donation or a share—means the world.
