Help Alghoul family start a new life

We are writing to appeal for your help in bringing the Alghoul family to Canada to start a new life. This appeal is on behalf of Somaya Alghoul, her children, and her grandchildren: Yasmeen Akram Alghoul, Abdelhay A. Alghoul and his son Adam, and Areej A. Alghoul and her four children.

The Alghoul family has been severely affected by ongoing conflicts. In 2009, an Israeli airstrike on their family farm killed the family’s patriarch, Judge Akram Alghoul, and destroyed the farm.

In 2014, the farm and family house were destroyed again.

In 2021, the farmhouse was bombed and destroyed, though fortunately, no one was harmed.

The situation has recently become even more dire. In November 2023, Yasmeen lost her three daughters—Salma, Alia, and Yarin—in an Israeli bombardment in Gaza City. Abdelhay, an aspiring young man, lost his source of income when his beachside café was destroyed. Areej delivered her fourth baby in April in Egypt, shortly after she miraculously escaped to Egypt before the Rafah crossing was shut down.

Now, the family has a chance to start anew in Canada. Fares Akram Alghoul and Basel Akram Alghoul, who live in Canada, have managed to secure the family's departure from Gaza into Egypt, paying over $20,000 to cross the border. They also applied to sponsor the family to come to Canada and paid the visa processing fees.

However, we still need your help. We are writing to urge you to donate and help us continue this journey. Your donations will be used to buy airline tickets for the eight family members and cover one year of house rental.
