Help Ali Become a Pancreatic Cancer Survivor!

Donation protected
In July 2021, our family received devastating news. Our dad, a father of 5, at age 52 was diagnosed with Stage III Pancreatic Cancer (Adenocarcinoma)

The recent months have been the most difficult times we have ever faced in our lives. Our sweet, strong, and loving Dad is facing the toughest battle of his life. We spent the first couple of months grieving and trying to keep some sense of normalcy in our lives. We have gone from good days to only those rare good moments that we cherish and look forward to. We see him suffering, through the weight loss, the pain and most importantly, we have seen him lose his happy, hopeful personality over time. He was always the strong one that kept us all together and now we have to step up and fight for him.

Our dad has spent his entire life giving to others and helping those in need. He has always put everyone before himself. Even when not asked he would go above and beyond to make sure those around him were well taken care of with no expectations of anything in return.

He is someone very special to us all and brings joy to anyone he meets. He has been the light of many people’s lives, living life to the fullest, and giving others happiness. Now we ask that you help us bring that light back and give him the hope he needs to become a survivor. Our hope is for him to see his children grow up, go to school, and become successful. We want him to be able to be a part of his future grandchild’s life and celebrate many birthdays for years to come.

During his treatments and hospital stays, he has been working remotely. He does not want our livelihood to be affected. We are hoping to reduce his financial burden so that his main focus is to heal.

We have spent the last couple of months looking at new research and options that could give us, and him hope. When diagnosed, he underwent the most aggressive and difficult chemo treatments (flofirinox) which stopped the growth of his cancer. However, this did not shrink the tumor, making it unsafe for surgeons to perform pancreatectomy surgery to remove the tumor. This surgery is the only way we were told he would survive.
No surgeon in Canada is willing to do the surgery due to the risks and those that are willing are only available in the US and abroad.

Recently they stopped his chemo treatments because it started to affect his other organs, and in this time we have received news that his latest CT scan shows his tumour has grown. We have now exhausted all options that have received approval for him.

Upon doing some of our own research which some friends in the health care field, we found an option in the US that is called Proton Beam Therapy. This treatment allows for a high dosage of energy protons to be precisely targeted at the tumor, reducing side effects and damage to his healthy organs and tissue. The traditional radiation that is offered in Canada could continue to damage his other organs surrounding the pancreas and would not be a beneficial option for him. We are hoping we can have him start on Proton Beam Therapy and eventually have him be a candidate for surgery.

Your donation will be used to help to send him to the USA and pay for the Proton Beam Therapy, to find a surgeon to do the surgery, as well as release some financial stresses on him so he can focus on getting better.

Our dad loves life and wants to continue to fight to be here with his family and friends. Please help us get the hope we desperately need. We appreciate your generosity and any donations will be appreciated!

Thank you,
Amiri Family
