Help Alia get surgery!

Alia Walston is a 35 year-old Black mystic, writer, and diviner hailing from Chicago, IL and currently residing in Austin, TX. For four years they have been living with chronic illness caused by uterine fibroids resulting in excessive uterine bleeding and pain. In 2019 Alia was diagnosed with resulting iron-deficient anemia and had to receive a blood transfusion shortly afterwards. Alia has been living on the road while attempting to manage their symptoms with limited access to medical care, and find a place to be and to rest without the ability to work. Alia has so much to offer the world, and we are hoping to bring this phase of their life to a close!

At this time we are asking our community for mutual aid so that Alia can access a much needed hysterectomy that will bring an end to these symptoms. Alia does not have other avenues of support right now and cannot work. They are currently under the supervision of a medical team and are in the planning stages for getting their hysterectomy. We have calculated what it would take for Alia to prepare for surgery, pay for the surgery itself, (with insurance coverage), and recover. This includes six months of money for housing, food, medication, and other critical resources for someone in a great deal of pain. Alia has housing currently, and will be taking the next two months to schedule and prepare for surgery. Following that, Alia will be finding a place to live where they can recover for at least six months. In this light we are also looking for a place for Alia in Austin, TX in the coming months.
