Eiad (Eddie) Abdallah, age 41, passed away on Friday, May 14 due to complications of Covid-19. He left behind a stay at home wife/mother who is raising three children. Eddie had a smile that could light up a room and laugh that was highly contagious. It was hard not to be happy in his presence and would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He was a hard worker making dentures in his garage to support the family that he loved so dearly. He would work endless hours to provide for his family, to pay the bills and give them a life that he felt they deserved.
On April 9th, his son came down with Covid-19 and had become very ill. Eddie worked tirelessly on his business while also taking care of his son. While caring for his son, his wife came down with the virus as well, putting more strain on Eddie as he was trying to take care of his business, wife and child. As his wife and child were getting better, Eddie came down with the virus. His symptoms started slowly with a cough and runny nose. As it progressed within the next few days, Eddie was having a difficult time breathing, but he did not want to go to the hospital in fear of leaving his wife and children alone. On April 30th, Eddie was struggling to breathe so badly that his wife had no choice but to call 911. His oxygen level when arriving at the hospital was at 18% and was immediately put on a ventilator. As the days went on, it seemed as though Eddie was improving and oxygen levels were going up. Eddie was able to breathe 50% on his own. His kidneys were operating at 10% and the doctors were telling his wife that it looked as though things were improving. However, with Covid-19, things can turn very quickly. May 14th, Alia (his wife) was able to visit him in the ICU at Silver Cross Hospital. When she arrived, Eddie's blood pressure was extremely low and the doctor advised Alia that he was dying. While speaking to the doctor, a code blue was called on Eddie. Doctors were able to revive him and Alia was able to tell him that she loved him and that he needed to fight to stay with them. Unfortunately, within minutes of her plea to have him fight and not give up, Eddie coded again and the doctors were unable to revive him.
Eiad (Eddie) was dearly loved by his family and friends. He was a kind soul who had a zest for life and was taken too soon. Alia (his wife), a mother who does not work and is now left to raise three children on her own, will be responsible for paying medical bills, mortgage, car payments and everyday living expenses. Please help his family as they navigate their life without him and the income they so desperately need right now.
