Hi, I'm Alice.
My last day at my current job is mid-April because I am being laid off. My lease on my current apartment ends at the end of May 2025. The current job market is atrocious with tech peers seeing at least 6 months of unemployment before getting placed. This is a terrible combo.
With your help and the last of my dollars, I can skip homelessness and start over in a new city. Savings? What's savings? I am *just* now starting to recover from the mess my life has been because of undiagnosed medical issues. I'm doing better now but I am still digging out.
Big costs:
- Moving my stuff. If I get a Ubox moving pod from Uhaul, it will be. $1800 depending for two pods. Two would let me keep everything I own. One pod would be $1400 and me giving up more of my stuff.
- Travel. As low as $310, but I'll need to check suit cases, eat at the airport, pay for taxi.
Other things I need help with and will get you more details soon:
- Bills. I'll be unemployed but I'll still have bills due.
- Pets. Potentially rehoming my two green cheek conures or at least keeping them fed.
- Medicine. Stocking up on my prescription meds before I move.
- Legal. Legal fees incurred from having to rework my coparenting agreement.
I am confident that with some study I can get some new tech skills to increase my chances at getting a new job. It's not an if, it's a when. I just need your help getting through until then.
