Help Alicia recover after her car accident

Hi, I'm Brenda and on April 21st my husband Jim and I received one of those calls a parent never wants to receive. Our daughter, Alicia, had been in a horrific car accident and was being transported to a Houston area trauma center and being prepped for surgery. That surgery was to repair a compound fracture of the right femur. It wasn't until later that night we would learn the extent of her injuries and impact they would have on her life. A dislocated, badly fractured right hip that now has two plates, screws and pins, missing cartilage that just broke off and cannot be repaired, and a small piece that they just couldn't do anything with so she now has a 50 cent piece sized of bone missing, a compound fractured right femur (lots of hardware is part of that now), a substantial cut that went to the bone and severed the tendon above the right knee, a fractured pelvis, a left fractured rib, and a left fractured foot. Numerous doctors said that she was lucky to be alive. We are in the process of moving her home so we can take care of her and help her with her rehabilitation.

A very long and uncertain future is ahead of her. No idea at this point if she'll be able to return to driving a school bus which he is done for 12 years. It will be sometime before we'll know what limitations she may have for the rest of her life.

We would like to keep her apartment while she works through rehab in the hopes that she will be able to return to her own home. And of course as most know insurance only pays so much of the medical expenses. We have had to pay out of pocket for almost all of the equipment needed to get her home.

Alicia is the oldest of our four children, she is a bright, caring, and loving young woman who is facing a very lengthy and uncertain future. We never thought we would be here but we would greatly appreciate any help with getting her through this life altering accident.
