Join to End Predatory Lending to Coffee Farmers

Donation protected

Did you know coffee farmers have to pay interest rates up to 70%?
70% interest rates are greedy, predatory, and keeps  farmers in a poverty cycle unable to reach their full potential.

How can you help?

1. Invest $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford, it will make a huge difference in the quality of life for coffee farmers.
2. Then sign up and subscribe  to have high quality coffee sourced from these farmers, roasted by Road and delivered to you.

One of the ways we can help is opening new markets for them. They deserve to be empowered and have access to sell their coffee for a reasonable price. Rather than being oppressed by unnecessary middlemen who pay them very little while taking a large profit. Also, revenue from each monthly subscription helps us grow our micro-loan fund. More information on how to set up your subscription below, or head over to our website!

It was through this first hand experience, I quickly learned about the systemic injustices and inefficiencies that keep coffee farmers in cycles, stunting their growth.
Visiting these farms, and seeing just how hard farmers are working, made it clear that they’re being taken advantage of by those in power - and that things really need to change.

After speaking to coffee farmers from Costa Rica to Peru to Guatemala and Colombia. I learned that access to finances was a huge problem.

Imagine the impact you can make by simply dropping the 0 off the 70%.

Road Coffee has embarked on a micro loan program, having already proven it in a pilot run.  We're able to offer coffee farmers small loans at just 7% as oppose to 70% to help purchase equipment, fertilizer, invest in technologies and/or practices or whatever they need to help grow their business and provide for their families. We are pairing these micro-loans with the education on how to improve the quality of their crop and environmental practices for sustainable farming.

And to be clear - this isn’t about giving handouts; it’s about giving farmers a “hand up”. Here’s the best part, we’ve designed this program so that each project continues to positively impact farms through their next harvest, allowing them to share equipment and knowledge with their neighboring producers. It’s a ripple-effect which lifts the burden of financial stress, and allows their communities to grow and prosper.

The next micro-loan project:
Female Focused project, working with coffee farmers in the Amazon region of Peru. These micro-loans will help them purchase the equipment, coupled with the education needed to improve the quality of their coffee.

Using micro-loan investment to purchase stainless steel fermentation tanks that will process coffee cherries under greater ambient control and extended exposures to specifically purposed.

I'm proud to update you that we have impacted 11 different coffee farmers and their families so far! With millions of coffee farmers not having access to basic needs, we have a ways to go but we are on our way!

How can you help?
How cool would it be to have a hand in breaking the chains that free women and other coffee farmers from reaching their potential, and then secondly be able to enjoy their coffee that has been hand picked by them and delivered to your cup.

The challenge is to bring together 1006 people like yourself. We’re already at 100, and if we can add another 100 each week for the next 10 weeks, we can make a difference in the lives of 25 small-holder farmers and their families.
