Help Alleviate Financial Stress for Al's Family

Everyday hero Al Boss died suddenly on May 19th, at the age of 63. He leaves behind his wife, Laura and son, Nathan. Al was a Web developer at King County for 19 years, and his greatest passion was in helping others. He was well liked at the county, and the go-to person if a problem needed to be solved. He was a “chronic” volunteer, giving his time to the local chapter of the Red Cross, Seattle King County Clinic, Crisis Connections, Cancer Lifeline, and numerous other organizations. He took in friends that were facing housing insecurity, and always found time to help anyone in his circle who was in need. His last gesture was to give his organs to those needing a transplant.

With his sudden and unexpected death, his wife Laura needs some financial support from our community. Al was the sole breadwinner for the family, and caregiver to Laura who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s late last year. Family and friends have all been pitching in with the day-to-day things (grocery shopping, meals, daily check-ins, doc appts, cleaning, etc.) but there is a need for long term care and support. All funds from this fundraiser will go directly to her health care and support.

Al set-up many Go Fund Me sites while he was alive, always complaining that “GoFundMe was America’s alternative to having adequate healthcare coverage and safety net”, so it is sadly ironic that we now have set one to support his wife’s long-term care.
