In June 2023 my brother Alonso was diagnosed with Classic Hodkin's Lymphoma, for this reason he received chemotherapy for 6 months, followed by a month of radiotherapy. This season was a very big test for Alonso and our entire family, it was difficult to complete, however with sacrifice and desire to live he managed to finish all the treatment in January 2024.

In April 2024, medical examinations showed that Alonso is not cancer-free and his lymphoma is very aggressive.

Since April we have known that Alonso is not cancer free and we must act, however the public medical system of Costa Rica has been extremely slow in taking action and initiating the appropriate treatment for Alonso. The treatment that this organization offers for free is chemotherapy again and bone marrow treatment (a treatment which does not have a high percentage to treat my brother's specific case).

This is why Alonso has visited private doctors to gain more knowledge of his specific case and they have recommended Immunotherapy, which is more effective and less invasive than other therapies. This type of treatment would be carried out in a private clinic called CIMCA (Cancer Research and Management Center) in Costa Rica. The expenses for this treatment are as follows:

12 therapies, carried out every 3 weeks, over the course of 8 months. Each therapy costs $11,666, with a total for the complete treatment of $140,000).

Alonso's symptoms have worsened this last month: Weight loss, loss of muscle mass, pressure in the chest, difficulty breathing, body itching and a lot of fatigue. Since April Alonso has been waiting for results and a plan from the Costa Rican public medical system, however his private Dr. this week was very clear on the importance of starting immunotherapy as quickly as possible.

We have faith that this treatment will be helpful for Alonso's health, however it is an immense financial amount for our family that we cannot provide. That is why with humility we are doing this “gofundme”. Alonso is 31 years old, he is engaged to his girlfriend and had plans to get married in January 2025. We hope that with this treatment and the grace of God, these dreams will come true and my brother will have many more years of life. This is an opportunity and an option for him, but we need the help of many people to make it possible. En junio 2023 mi hermano Alonso fue diagnosticado con Linfoma clásico de Hodkin, por este motivo recibió quimioterapia por un transcurso de 6 meses, seguido de un mes de radioterapia. Esta etapa fue una prueba muy grande para Alonso y toda nuestra familia, fue difícil de completar, sin embargo con sacrificio y deseo de vivir logro terminar todo el tratamiento en enero del 2024.

En abril del 2024 exámenes medicos demostraron que Alonso no esta libre de cancer y su linfoma es bastante agresivo.

Desde abril tenemos conocimiento que Alonso no esta libre de cancer y debemos actuar, sin embargo el sistema medico publico de Costa Rica ha sido sumamente lento en tomar acción e iniciar el tratamiento adecuado para Alonso. El tratamiento gratuito que esta organización ofrece es quimioterapia nuevamente y tratamiento de medula ósea (tratamiento el cual no posee un porcentaje alto para tratar el caso especifico de mi hermano).

Alonso ha visitado doctores privados para tener mas conocimiento de su caso especifico y le han recomendado Inmunoterapia, esta siendo mas eficaz y menos invasiva que las otras terapias. Este tipo de tratamiento se llevaría a cabo en una clínica privada llamada CIMCA (Centro de Investigación y Manejo del Cancer) los gastos para este tratamiento son los siguientes:

12 terapias, llevadas a cabo cada 3 semanas, en el transcurso de 8 meses. Cada terapia tiene un costo de C5,905.296 ($11,666), con un total por el tratamiento completo de C70,863.552 ($140,000).

Los sintomas de Alonso han empeorado este ultimo mes: Perdida de peso, pérdida de masa muscular, presión en el pecho, dificultad al respirar, picazón de cuerpo y mucho cansancio. Desde abril Alonso ha estado esperando resultados y un plan de parte del sistema medico publico de Costa Rica, sin embargo su Dr. privado esta semana fue muy claro en la importancia de iniciar la inmunoterapia lo mas rápido posible.

Tenemos fe que este tratamiento va a ser de ayuda para la salud de Alonso , sin embargo es una cantidad económica inmensa para nuestra familia que no podemos proveer. Por eso con humildad estamos haciendo este “gofundme”.

Alonso tiene 31 anos, esta comprometido con su novia, con planes de casarse en enero del 2025, esperamos que con este tratamiento y la gracia de Dios, estos sueños se hagan realidad y mi hermano tenga muchos anos mas de vida. Esta es una oportunidad y una opción para el, pero necesitamos la ayuda de muchas personas para hacerlo posible.
