Help Altadena Families Recover from Fire

Hey everyone,

My name is Darin Rios, and I’m a resident of Altadena, California. On January 7th, my family and I were forced to evacuate in the middle of the night due to a devastating wildfire. That morning, I went back to check on our home, only to find that much of our neighborhood was on fire and burning down. While our apartment is still standing, it is currently unlivable due to hazardous conditions. At this point, I don’t know if we’ll be able to return, as there has been little communication from our landlord and no clear plan to address the issues. Because of this uncertainty, we are focusing on securing a stable living situation elsewhere.

Why I’m Raising Funds & How They Will Be Used

I am raising these funds to help my family transition into a safe and stable environment while we figure out our long-term plans.

The funds will be used for:

Relocation expenses to secure a safe place to stay

Basic living costs (rent, utilities, food, and transportation)

Replacing essential items we no longer have access to

Supporting overall well-being as we navigate this challenging transition

Why This Support Means So Much

This situation has not only displaced us but has also significantly impacted my ability to work and focus. My livelihood depends on my ability to think clearly and support others through my work, but right now, I need to prioritize stabilizing my own life before I can fully show up for those who rely on me. These funds will give me the ability to get back on my feet, regain stability, and move forward.
