Help Alva Troy Fight Stage 4 Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Kristen Troy and I am reaching out for help with my mothers medical expenses as we have hit a point where we cannot afford to fight her cancer alone. It is incredibly difficult for us to ask for help but I would do anything for my mother and she finally agreed to let me help raise money for her.
My mother is the hardest working person I have ever known. She immigrated here from Mexico and has worked hard to gain her place here within the U.S - finally being granted her citizenship in 2017. She has always worked within the schools as a custodian as her English is very limited and there are not many other opportunities. She has been deeply loved at every school she has ever worked, especially at Valley Creek Elementary in McKinney where she worked for over a decade. Despite being 65, she continues to work with no end in sight as she has no other choice in trying to keep afloat and trying to not lose the home that her and my father worked so hard for.
2023 was an incredibly tough year for my family, in February of 2023 my amazing father, Byron Troy, passed away suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 63. His loss has devastated my family and especially my mother whom was married to him for 35 years. We were blessed to have help from our family through his burial but things have gotten tough and we have barely made it by with my mothers bills due to the loss of his income.
In September of 2023, my mother began to experience symptoms that went far beyond the heartbreak we thought she was experiencing with repeated trips to the hospital complaining of extreme chest pain. As it turned out, they found a suspicious lump in my mothers breast and we were referred to specialists in order to investigate the issues further.
Since then things have progressively gotten scarier and more serious. What we first thought to be stage 2 breast cancer that could have been fought through chemotherapy and surgery has recently shown itself as an aggressive stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes, liver, and her bones.
Despite my mothers health insurance, we have been coming out of pocket for countless doctors visits, exams, and medications. Today, we received news that we will have to pay a large sum of money upfront to even begin my mothers chemotherapy treatment and the bills are continuing to pile up especially as we lose work days with trips to the doctor.
Any amount of money would help and all donations will first go toward chemotherapy and then towards the large numbers of medications she will need to take as well as helping her with bills to keep her home.
Thank you so much for reading our story. Any prayers are immensely welcome and if you can't contribute I ask that you consider sharing this to help us.
