Help Alvin Recover from the Chapter House Flood Crisis
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alvin Ko. I’m an alumnus of Lambda Phi Epsilon at UMass Amherst (Spring '18, Alpha Zeta Class), and I am reaching out to ask for help during an incredibly difficult time. (venmo preferred due to transaction fees at @alvinandtonic)
Recently, I was living in our chapter house while pursuing my Master’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. During winter break, a major flooding incident happened in the house due to a broken water pipe. Although I had communicated with the house brothers before leaving for break and followed the instructions given, I was ultimately held heavily responsible for the damage, alongside another brother.
The estimated repair costs are between $50,000–$75,000. Despite the circumstances, I was asked to cover a large portion—while also facing multiple other serious personal hardships.
I currently have no stable income, no job lined up, and no financial safety net to fall back on.
My family is already burdened with significant debt from a past business scam, and I have no way to secure loans either in the U.S. or Korea.
That’s why I am humbly asking for your support.
Even a small donation can help me take the first step toward rebuilding.
If, by some miracle, I am able to raise more than I need, I will donate the remaining funds to support the active chapter.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, and for any support—whether financial, emotional, or even just sharing this page.
