Help Alysa as She Recovers from Brain Surgery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Pam and I'm helping the Jacobys raise funds to meet their medical bills. I met Alysa Jacoby when I first moved to Montana. She invited several ladies from church to her home to have coffee and donuts and to get to know one another. I was struck by Alysa’s sweet disposition and her outreach to older ladies in church. She scheduled a few other get-togethers that expanded and helped many of us meet new attendees.

On April 4, Alysa and her 2 children were in a car accident. Alysa, 4 year old Andy and 4 month old Eda were evaluated and cleared by the Emergency Department but Alysa needed to see an oral surgeon. She had bitten her tongue when the car airbag deployed and needed stitches. She was also experiencing headaches.

Dealing with the car crash was challenging, but a call from the ED would make that fade in comparison. Alysa was told they could see a mass on her brain and she was given a referral to see a neurosurgeon. The neurosurgeon said the mass was most likely benign, given its location, and the Jacobys awaited a date for surgery.

On May 4, Alysa went in to have the brain tumor removed. It was not the tumor the doctor expected so it will be sent for further testing. The surgeon feels positive that he got all of the tumor but Alysa is experiencing weakness on her left side as a result of the surgery. There is a two month recovery period ahead, including two weeks of physical therapy to help Alysa regain better mobility. Alysa will need yearly brain scans in the future.

Family and friends from church are stepping in to care for the children and provide meals. The Jacobys expect to face a $10,000 co-pay for the surgery. Any help in meeting that need would be greatly appreciated.
