Help Amanda and Andrew. Home lost in Valley Fire

Donation protected
On Wednesday, April 15, our dear friends Amanda and Andrew lost their home in the Squamish Valley to a wildfire.  The fire is believed to have started at a farm down the road but quickly traveled towards their home.  At the time of writing, the fire in the Squamish Valley is still burning out of control and they have not been able to return yet to asses the damage.  However, a photo taken by a neighbour was sent to them showing that their home is completely gone.  They were able to rescue their dog, Sable.  Their cat, Luna was not so lucky and is believed to have perished in the fire.

This is beyond devastating, especially at a time such as this.

Amanda Morris and Andrew Boyd are beloved members of our community and have contributed substantially to this town for decades.

Ms. Amanda, as the kids know her, is the owner of Squamish Gymnastics, an institution that has seen almost 2 decades of Squamish's youth pass through its programs.  She, like many small business owners at this time, has been unable to operate during the pandemic.  This was already a financially challenging time for her and her business.

Andrew Boyd has been prolific in both the climbing and mountain biking communities in Squamish.  He is responsible for 100's of climbing routes and boulder problems in Squamish and around BC.  1000's of hours and countless dollars of his own money have been spent over the decades producing undoubtedly some of the highest quality climbs that are out there.  If that wasn't enough, he decided to get into trail building.  Treasure Trail and Pleasure Trail are his creations.  Built with a small handful of close friends over many years and completely self funded.  For anybody who has hiked or biked these trials, they'll understand the massive amount of time and love that went into them.

Amanda and Andrew are lucky to be part of such of an amazing community as we have here in Squamish, and we are even more lucky to have them with us.  They both love this place dearly and it shows.

Now it is our turn to give back to them.

The following days, weeks, and months they are going to need our help.  They have lost everything in the fire and must rebuild their lives.

Please donate what you can to help them get back on their feet.
