Help Amanda Garza & Family After Devastating House Fire

Donation protected
Falfurrias, Texas

Amanda B. Garza, mother of eight children and retired teacher of over 27 years, between Brooks County ISD and Jim Hogg ISD and momma bear to many students over the years, lost her home due to a fire that spread rapidly late Sunday night and into Monday morning. Living with her were her son, Eli Aleman and her granddaughter, Alannah who is in the 6th grade. They have completely lost everything, including their two pet dogs and two pet cats, and all of their belongings. This came as a complete shock and has been very overwhelming and emotionally draining to say the least. Our entire family is feeling for them.

We are grateful to the Lord that my mom was able to get out of the home in time before the fire took over and that my brother and his daughter were at a friend's house at the time, so they were all safe.

We know that this is the most important thing and that materialistic items are not as important as their lives but it is also a harsh reality that all their everyday necessities and home are now gone. Because my mom lives on a fixed income and could not afford extra payments, there was no home insurance on the house.

They will now be dealing with the struggle of starting all over from literally the ground up.
They are in need of any donations possible so that we can help them try to find a housing situation, clothing, blankets, towels, furniture and everything else used on a daily basis in life.

Any donations are welcomed and appreciated, whether it be monetary or items/furniture. I know some people would rather cash app than gofundme (because of the fees) so a cashapp for them is $selmoreno

This home wasn't the most fancy home or anything that anyone would have thought was a "nice house" but it was our family home and the home we all grew up in. It was the home we had all our memories in and many of them were with extended family and family friends too. This was the home our late father put together and the last thing(s) we had of his. Not only do we feel we lost a home but a piece of him that we can never get back. All the photos and momentos saved over the years gone in the blink of an eye. We may never have enough to rebuild or even be where we were, or have what we had, but we can try to start somewhere and your help we would be forever grateful for. We are also grateful for your prayers and check-ins. Please continue to pray for us. Thank you so much.

We have been looking for a used home to be moved to property but as we all know, the cost of moving a home is high, as well as any fixing or renovations that need to be done to make the house able to be lived in. My mom wants to continue to here on her property where she has always felt save so we are just trying to see what we can do to accomplish this. All the help and donations are such a blessing and are being placed into a savings as they are recieved so she can use that in the near future. Hopefully if we can find something soon.
