Help Amanda Heal from Traumatic Assault
Donation protected
Amanda was violently attacked and robbed downtown. She fought back, so much so that she bent her ring in the process. Amid the chaos, what she initially thought was a keychain her attacker was using to strike her turned out to be brass knuckles.
The situation escalated quickly, and she was knocked to the ground, stomped on the face, pinned by her attacker’s boot, and robbed of her purse. The entire ordeal lasted only a few minutes, but to her, it felt like an eternity. It wasn’t until the adrenaline wore off that she realized the extent of her injuries. She suffered two concussions, an orbital fracture, a busted lip, a broken tooth, cracked ribs, bruising around her C1 vertebra, and a sprained wrist.
Two major concerns are currently being addressed. Her jaw has been misaligned and remains swollen, requiring further treatment to determine the best course of action. Until then, she is on a soft food/liquid diet because she can’t open her mouth fully and chewing causes excruciating pain. Her right eye is another major issue. She has been slowly losing vision in it, and after seeing two optometrists, it was discovered that broken blood vessels caused pressure in her eye, resulting in retinal damage. She will need visual therapy and an eye patch to support the healing process.
In addition to physical recovery, she is also seeking mental health therapy to process the trauma of this violent assault. On top of all of this, she was diagnosed with Lupus last summer, and the only treatment that has helped keep her flare-ups manageable is oral chemotherapy.
Despite this, she remains committed to her work and community. She serves as President of Hotel Sales and Marketing in Memphis and Chairperson of Fundraising for the Global Business Travel Association.
As she faces this challenging journey of recovery, I’m asking for support to help cover medical bills, therapy costs, and household bills as she has an 11-year-old daughter. Any contribution, regardless of size, would mean the world to her. I truly appreciate your help as we help to heal and support Amanda.
