Amanda Kinross’ Cancer Care
Donation protected
Amanda has been fighting colon cancer since Fall of 2018 (Age 33), completing 3 major surgeries, 38 rounds of chemotherapy, 2 rounds of Immunotherapy and 10 rounds of radiation. During chemo she was able to continue to work full-time and was promoted into the role of Data Center Manager (2021). She also took great pride in being voted by her peers to run the employee experience committee for the state of Virginia in the year 2021.
When asked a few years ago what about her cancer journey she found most compelling she replied - “I don’t have a belly button anymore, I’m definitely using that as my fun fact at work!”
Amanda lives in Centreville with her fiancé Matt and 3 cats - Felix, Gilly and Gertie, who all have Harry Potter themed names and extra toes. She has facilitated the adoption of 12 cats and kittens from a Manassas feral cat colony, something that allowed her to achieve her bucket list item of bottle feeding a kitten!
Amanda’s friends describe her as -
“A ray of sarcastic light”
“Dependable and empathetic”
&
“Lithium ion battery specialist - bring me my box of SAND, stat!”
In spite of a great attitude and the love and support of her doctors, friends, and family, Amanda’s cancer spread to her spine last fall and is inoperable. After hitting this blocker, her care team exhausted all viable treatment options, culminating in retrying a previous type of chemo to no positive effect. Amanda’s friends and family are starting this fundraiser to help her as she continues through her next step, hospice care. Many people have reached out to ask what they can do to help, and this is the best way to do that.
