Support Amanda Through Cancer and Motherhood
Donation protected
Our absolutely dear-to-our-hearts, Amanda (Dvorak) Nicholas, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer on October 7th, 2024.
Being diagnosed with cancer is devastating enough for anyone; being diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant and caring for a 2.5-year-old is unimaginable. To stop the cancer from spreading, chemotherapy that is safe for the baby will begin during the week of October 14th. The doctors have said that once chemotherapy starts Amanda will need to go on leave from teaching her 2nd graders for the year so she can focus on treatment.
Once baby is delivered in early to mid-November, more intensive rounds of chemotherapy will begin. The current plan is for chemotherapy and remaining treatments to last for a year.
If you know Amanda, you know that she will give her whole heart and all of her time to you and will never ask for anything in return. The financial burden of abruptly ending work for a year, having a newborn, and enduring cancer treatments will be significant.
There are so many hidden costs that come with a newborn as well as having a significant chronic health issue, and your donations will support easing the burden of those. (Friends and family will also encourage Amanda and her husband Alex to allow some of the donations to support them in doing fun things as a family "guilt-free." Fun family time will be crucial for Amanda's health and well-being as well as her whole family's ability to cope and stay connected during this time.)
Please consider donating so that Amanda can kick cancer's butt without having to bear the financial burden while doing so. Cancer is taking so much away from Amanda at such an important time of her life. The less stress Amanda has fighting cancer, the more capacity she will have to give to her new bundle of joy, her adorable 2.5-year-old daughter, and her husband.
