Help Amayah Walk: Support Her Recovery
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Graciela and I am raising funds for my daughter so that she can purchase the necessary braces and walker for my youngest granddaughter, Amayah. When my daughter gave birth to Amayah in August 2023, Amayah was born with talipes equinovarus, which is the medical term for club foot. It is a congenital foot deformity where the foot is turned inward, with the heel pointing downward. In September 2023, Amayah had to wear a cast. The cast was worn for about 4 weeks and would then be changed. In November 2023, Amayah had to have a percutaneous heel cord tenotomy, which is a minimally invasive surgical procedure where the Achilles tendon (heel cord) was cut through a small incision. This procedure is usually done to treat talipes equinovarus (clubfoot). After having the surgery, Amayah was not wearing a cast for about 2 weeks.
In January 2024, Amayah no longer needed to wear a cast. In total, she has worn 4 casts. Despite her club foot, Amayah is a happy, healthy 1-year-old. She will be turning 2 this year.
This is why I am asking for help on behalf of my daughter. Amayah will be needing new braces and a walker. These things are not covered by insurance, and my daughter cannot afford to pay out of pocket for them. The braces cost anywhere from $200 to $1,000, and the walker, which is needed to help Amayah if she loses her balance, costs anywhere from $250 to $500. Amayah will need to continue wearing braces until she is about 4 years old.
Any amount, $2, $5, or $10, will be greatly appreciated. Any amount will help. Thank you!
