Help Amazing Ron start his New Chapter

Donation protected
Everyone who has ever had the pleasure of meeting Ron, knows he would bend over backwards to help others. I have known Ron for the past 30 years. In all those years he has only ever shown me and my family warmth, generosity, help, patience and kindness. Ron is just one of those beautiful, amazing people who everyone loves. He is an incredible loving father, son, brother, uncle, partner, an active member of the community (running a children’s football team for the last 10 years) and one of the best builders around. Ron also a kind, fun, supportive, helpful, funny, down to earth, chilled and calm (but loud;) friend and just all round awesome person. I think deep down we all wish, we could be a bit more Ron.

Ron now needs our help. Before Christmas Ron was blue lighted into hospital following 3 weeks of agony after an operation for Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). What followed since has been a horrendous nightmare involving several other operations which finally led him to having part of his leg removed on Thursday 16 Jan. This was caused by a life threatening infection that his body just couldn't seem to shift. There have been many complications with his NHS care. However, we are now hopeful that he can now start to get better and rebuild his life.

Obviously Ron's life will change forever. But we know and believe that Ron is going to totally smash this. Ron is always positive, hardworking and practical. He is absolutely determined to get his life back on track and we all believe he will and he'll probably go on to outlive us all ;) But in order to do it he is going to need to make some adjustments which are gonna cost money. Unfortunately money is tighter than it's ever been before because Ron (who is a self employed builder) has not and will not be able to work for many months. Like many of us, Ron didn't ever expect anything like this to happen and didn't plan for it and therefore hasn't got any insurance.

Cath (Ron's long standing Partner In Crime (although no longer together)) has been an absolute rock trying to hold everything together, supporting their 3 beautiful children; Summer, Isla and Reggie. Cath continues to work relentlessly to get properties let that could help them pay their regular bills each month and keep food on the table. Cath continues to dash between the hospital, houses and home; practically and emotionally trying to support the family. It's literally is like a living nightmare and I can't imagine how I would cope, but she is some sort of superwoman. Summer, Isla and Reggie have also rallied around trying to support their dad, whilst also trying to come to terms with what has happened and deal with their own young emotions. Together as a family they are trying to get through this incredibly difficult time.

Many people have been asking how they can help. Aside from the emotional and motivational support, there is a practical way you can, but please, there is no pressure. I think everyone realises times are pretty tough at the moment for most of us. Most people are struggling to make ends meet themselves. But if you could afford to make a donation of any size it would really help.

Once Ron leaves hospital there are many things he'll need to invest in. These include:

  • A prosthetic leg that enables him to work again and try and get his life back to normal as much as possible (NHS only provide basic, limited mobility)
  • Adapting his home so that he can get around as easily as possible including a downstairs walk in bathroom
  • An automatic van so he can get back to work as a builder (the doctors have said he will no longer be able to use his manual)

These additional expenses are coupled with the cost of Ron not earning any money while he desperately tries to get his life back on track.

So as much as Ron will hate this, I have set this page up for Ron because out of all the people I know, he really deserves it. (All the money will go directly to Ron's bank account.)

If you can help support, no amount is too small. Anything you can offer would really help. And if you can't afford a donation please just send him a message to let him know you're thinking about him. He might not be able to respond, but he needs all our positive energy and encouragement to help get him through this time. We just want to help him get back to feeling like himself again; the fun, happy, kind, caring, wonderful Ron that we all know and love and who deserves so much better than this hand he has been dealt.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Big love to you all.

PLEASE NOTE. Unfortunately the comments part of this page is not working properly. I have reached out to GoFundMe but we can't seem to fix it at this time. If you do make a donation (or have done already) and would like to leave a message we ask that you send it a close friend or family member and will make sure it reaches Ron. Thank you :)
