Help Amber save her eye!
On May 5th 2021 I woke with a very painful feeling in my left eye. I was diagnosed with an eye ulcer and spend 3 weeks in pain, but still working and living life as much as I could. I was sent to a specialist in Dothan in early June. I was then diagnosed with a life threatening fungal infection. After 1.5 weeks on strong anti-fungal drops every hour, my cornea ruptured. The fluid leaking from the infection sent me into an emergency surgery at Callahan Eye institute at UAB in Birmingham. I received a full corneal transplant on June 24th 2021. I have insurance, however insurance is not paying for my eye drops which cost $400 and I’ve had to have them filled twice already. My deductible for the surgery is $5,000. In addition to these costs, we are traveling to and from Birmingham and Dothan atleast once a week and will continue for months to come. I am a teacher out for summer break not receiving a income right now. Anything you can give will greatly help my family and health situation. Thank you and God Bless!
