Help Ambrosia get to Maternidad La Luz

Hi friends, family, clients, and everyone who has cheered me on through late nights, long births, and endless cups of coffee,
I’m here with a heart full of love and nerves, asking for your support as I embark on a pivotal step in my midwifery journey: a three-month preceptorship at Maternidad La Luz in El Paso. This isn’t just a training opportunity—it’s a calling.
This chapter is about more than completing my midwifery degree (though that’s a big deal, too!). It’s about reconnecting with my roots—relearning my ancestral language, honoring traditions, and giving back to communities that have been underserved for too long.
As a doula and aspiring midwife, I’ve poured myself into supporting birthing people—answering late-night calls, volunteering, mentoring, and holding space for joy, fear, and everything in between. Since moving my family to Colorado in 2023, I’ve balanced full-time studies (108.5 credits down, 13 to go!), doula work, being a wife, a mother, and a vital contributor to our family’s finances. While my husband works hard to support us, we can’t afford for me to step away from work completely. I’ve mastered the art of writing essays during the day while working around the clock—welcoming babies into the world as a birth doula and holding space for new families during long postpartum nights.
Now, this next step is big. It’s transformative. And, let’s be real: it’s expensive. I’m committed to working tirelessly to achieve this dream, but I need your help to reach my $20,000 goal. Here’s how the funds will be used:
What the Funds Cover
• Mortgage & Bills: Keeping my family afloat while I step away from work for three months.
• Housing & Transportation in El Paso: Finding a safe and comfortable space to live near the birth center and covering travel costs.
• Food: For myself in El Paso and for my family back home.
• Student Costs: Fees for Maternidad La Luz and other expenses tied to being a full-time midwifery student.
This amount ensures I can focus fully on this experience without the constant worry of making ends meet—so I can show up for my learning, my clients, and my family.
Why This Matters:
✨ Maternidad La Luz serves families who need accessible, culturally relevant care. I’ll gain hands-on experience while contributing to a mission I deeply believe in.
✨ It’s a chance to deepen my connection to traditional midwifery practices—an invaluable gift I want to carry forward.
✨ Once I graduate, I’ll bring this knowledge back to Colorado, where providers like me—culturally competent, trauma-informed, and passionate about inclusivity—are sorely needed.
How You Can Help:
1. Donate: Every bit counts, whether it’s $5 or $500.
2. Share: Spread the word to your networks—someone you know might resonate with my story.
3. Trade: I have a list of offerings for doulas, midwives, students, and future clients! From mentoring and support to birth work services, let’s talk about how I can give back in exchange for your generosity.
Supporting me is supporting a future where birthing people receive the care they deserve—care that is kind, informed, and rooted in respect for culture and tradition.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me cross the finish line. Your support means more than I can say.
With love, laughter, and endless gratitude,
Ambrosia
P.S. If you’re wondering about my GPA—it’s solid, I promise! ❤️
