Help Amélie Kiki

Hello everyone. Since the massive support from the community in "Walk a Mile with Amelie Kiki" in 2017 things have dramatically changed for Miss Amelie. Over the last number of years Amelie has declined in her health, her seizures became uncontrollable, she has choking episodes due to build up of secretions, she now has very bad dystonic episodes causing a lot of pain and discomfort, Kidney stones which require hospital visits and in January Amelie had spinal fusion surgery due to her scoliosis declining so much which left her in ICU for 3 weeks due to a very bad bout of pneumonia. She is no longer able to walk or weight bare anymore and her need for private therapies has gone up. We visit Mullingar each week for therapy on her neck and her back and her wheelchair has become her new legs. This is where the story leads. Unfortunately Amelie's wheelchair has grown in size as a result of all these issues, she should be travelling in it as it's a moulded seat and this would make travelling from her less painful and just safer over all. At present we have her sitting in a toddlers booster seat but she isn't very secure and she is shaped like a banana! Also her new chair is extremely, extremely heavy! I am going to struggle to lift it in and out of the boot of the car and with school starting back very soon and any help I have at home disappearing back to work/education I am going to be doing all these appointments by myself. I dread the idea of taking Amelie out in the car because of the wheelchair situation to the point where I just don't and that means she is stuck at home a lot of the time. I am here to ask for help, we have secured a loan for a Wheelchair Accessible Van but unfortunately the maximum amount we have been able to secure just can not get us a car to meet our needs, most don't fit Amélie's chair, I need automatic due to my own disability and we need to have enough seats for our other two girls also. However due to Brexit and Covid the 2nd hand car market has gone through the roof and we are left in this no man's land unable to get a car but in desperate need. There is really no help here in Ireland to get a WAV unless your fortunate enough to be able to buy a new car then you get tax relief on that new vehicle but that avenue isn't available to us. So I am asking you for help, if you could donate a small bit towards helping Amelie get on the road or hold a fundraiser or anything, please, please do. It's not easy to ask for help again but unfortunately it turns out that it really does take a village to raise a child with Special Needs. All your help is very much appreciated and needed.
