Help Amir & his Family in Khan Yunis, Gaza
Donation protected
My wife Holly and I are raising funds (from the UK) on behalf of Amir and his six family members, including his parents, his younger brother and older sister, and his sister’s two children, who are all displaced and living in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis.
Before the war, Amir worked as a waiter and loved his job. In the middle is Amir and his younger brother.
The family, displaced, and living in a tent.
Holly: I was introduced to Amir through his brother Ahmed, whose own fundraiser is managed by my friend here in the UK. Ahmed was looking for someone who could help get funds to his wider family, as he is having to provide for his wife and young children - and so I offered to help.
Amir is 22 years old, and along with his family, he has been displaced 11 times since their house in Khan Yunis was bombed and destroyed in October.
His family now suffer with hunger and skin diseases - alongside the struggles of managing to survive in a tent, surrounded by war. It costs a minimum of $400 per fortnight to feed the family and cover costs of medication and water. If possible, we would like to raise money for better shelter for the family, as it is very concerning to consider living this way in the winter time.
The fundraiser also seeks to raise funds for evacuation into Egypt, if and when the border reopens. The border-crossing fees are at least $5,000 per person, (coordinated by certified Egyptian travel company Hala.)
Currently, the family are forced to eat expired canned food
The family's tent, which has many holes and will not be suitable once winter arrives
More of the tent, where insecticide is needed as bugs are everywhere.
In Amir’s own words:
I was working before the war, I was happy with my job. But the war came and I lost everything I had. In the current situation, I cannot bear responsibility for my family members individually because of the high prices and the lack of complete food provision for us.
My family and I suffer from a lot of food shortages. I cannot provide them with the necessities of life and this pains me. I am also responsible for my sister's children's expenses.
My father is not working at his job now and he is not getting paid as regularly as before.
Our house was bombed on the 10th of October, and we have since been displaced 11 times from the beginning of the war until now.
