Who Am I?

My name is Lucas and I’ve been a storyteller for as long as I can remember. Growing up as an undocumented immigrant in the United States, I learned the importance of having your voice heard—even in a world that often tries to silence you.

My journey began when I was just 12 months old, carried by my parents to a new world as unfamiliar to them as the old world was to me at such a young age. All in pursuit of a better life. For years, we built a home here, but the weight of being undocumented was always with us. That reality hit hardest when my father was deported for driving without a license. He passed away in Brazil soon after, and to this day, I haven’t been able to visit his grave. Not being able to say goodbye or honor his memory in person is a pain that never leaves me.

But it’s also what fuels my passion. I know what it means to feel invisible, and I’ve dedicated my life to making sure others don’t have to feel the same. As a filmmaker, my goal is to tell the stories of immigrants—people whose courage, resilience, and humanity deserve to be seen and celebrated.

What is this fundraiser about?

Right now, as part of my media company, The Bearded Soul Media, I’m working on a series of short documentary projects that shine a light on the lives of immigrant communities in the sunshine state of Florida. These films will capture their journeys, their struggles, and their hope.

But to bring these stories to life, I need your help. Filmmaking requires a team, quality equipment—cameras, lighting, audio gear—and I’m raising funds to invest in the tools needed to do these stories justice.

Funds will also be used to pay crew, locations, production hardware/software, gas and transportation, sound design, scriptwriting, website design and promotion materials.
