Help Amy Access Life-Changing Medical Care (Goal Reached!)

Over the past few years, Amy has developed a host of symptoms affecting virtually every system in her body. In September 2023, she was diagnosed with a chronic disease called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a type of autonomic nervous system disorder. She has been on a slow, often discouraging journey to find ways to manage this illness that deeply impacts her day-to-day life. Furthermore, POTS can often occur alongside other multisystem diseases, and it seems this may be the case in Amy's situation. Her primary care provider has recommended that she go to the Center for Multisystem Disease in Denver, CO for further, specialized evaluation by Dr. Jill Schofield. However, the Center for Multisystem Disease does not take insurance. According to their website, "The insurance model reimburses for a maximum of one hour for a new patient visit and Dr. Schofield spends the whole day on each new patient visit."

As of writing this, the new patient consultation costs $3500, and the post consultation visit (which takes place after getting outside lab results ordered by Dr. Schofield) costs $1600. These costs don't include any lab work, but Amy might be able to get her insurance to cover part of the lab work. Any extra funds raised beyond the cost of the two visits to Dr. Schofield would go to help cover the transaction fees for this fundraiser as well as lab fees not covered by insurance.

In the midst of all the medical issues Amy has been dealing with and the journey of grief that has come with it, Amy lost her job at the end of June and has not yet been able to land a new job. She is unable to afford the costs of these medical visits that could do so much to improve her day-to-day functioning and health.
