Help Amy Blanchard Pay for Life-Changing Surgery

Amy was born with Spina Bifida, a condition that leaves a newborn baby's spine incomplete and open at birth. As is almost always necessary, Amy had surgery in her first few hours of life to protect her fragile and exposed nerves.

 

It is common for people who have this procedure to grow scar tissue around the lower spine, effectively tethering the spine in place. This tethering, as it progresses, causes ever increasing levels of pain.

 

Sadly for Amy and her family, her spine has become tethered to the point where day-to-day activities, such as shopping, strolling with family and friends and cooking have become impossible.

 

The only path to remediation is a complicated day-long spinal untethering surgery. As you can imagine the cost for this surgery is menacing. Even with insurance, the deductible of $5000 combined with uncovered but necessary in-process tests, which ensure the success of the procedure, pile up leaving families with debt of more than $50,000.
