Help Amy Heal: Support Her Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Hey! Have you met Amy? You should, but first let’s help her heal from a devastating wound that has turned her world upside-down and changed the course of her life.

Amy is a blessing to everyone that knows her. She is a mom, grandma, aunt, sister, and best friend. Amy would never ask for help, for anything, from anyone, so I am asking.

On Sept 13th, Amy went in for a simple surgery to repair her Achilles tendon and remove bone spurs that were causing the tendon problems. The surgery went well, and Amy went home. It would be amazing if I could say that this was the end of the story and she is now healed, but she's not, and the story is far from over. On her first follow-up appointment, they discovered that she had an infection and began treating it with antibiotics. The treatment didn't go well, so they tried other antibiotics. On Tues 10/22, it was discovered that she had a very serious infection. They began a more aggressive antibiotic to make it better; this also hasn't worked. Saturday, after talking to her doctor, Amy was sent to Billings, a five-hour drive from home, to the ER. After blood work, CT scans, and an MRI, it was decided that Amy would need surgery to remove all of the tissue that had been affected by this infection. Sunday morning, Amy went in for surgery, and they removed the tissue that was dead, along with her Achilles tendon and some bone. The doctors reported that she would probably need multiple surgeries, and that the first one would be in 2 weeks. She will be hospitalized for at the very least 2 weeks. Later Sunday night, the doctor came in and said that she would need to have another surgery on Monday to remove more affected tissues, in hopes of getting all of the infection. Amy has a long road to recovery. Her husband, Jody, hasn't left her side (other than when he has to stay at a hotel because the hospital doesn't let visitors stay). He will be out of work for the remainder of the time that she is in the hospital. Meanwhile, their monthly bills continue to pile up. They will have continuing medical bills, hotel stays, and other expenses to navigate while they go through this hard time. During this time, Amy and Jody need some time to process all of this. They have asked for privacy. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me or Amy’s daughters. All prayers are welcome, and the smallest amount helps. Please share; it all adds up. You could also donate to their Venmo if you would like to use that option.
