Help Amy Recover from her Rock Climbing Accident!

Donation protected
Those of you who know Amy Carmichael know that she loves adventurous activities in the mountains. She lives for activities such as skiing, mountain biking, peak bagging, and of course rock climbing! On Monday, November 29th Amy had an accident and fell about 35 feet while rock climbing. Thankfully her belayer was able to stop her fall before she completely hit the ground. This is what ultimately saved her life.

Unfortunately, Amy has sustained very serious injuries from the fall including multiple broken vertebrae in her spine, a broken sternum, broken ankles & heels, as well as a shattered tibia and fibula and soft tissue damage. While these injuries are incredibility serious, the outcome certainly could have been much more dire.

Thankfully she was close to a major hospital system when the accident occurred and has been receiving treatment from world class orthopedic teams and other healthcare professionals at the University of Utah. She has already undergone multiple surgeries to stabilize her spine and broken bones, & protect her spinal cord. The doctors do expect her to make a full recovery over time, although she will need to complete additional surgical procedures, extensive occupational & physical therapy.

The outpouring of support for Amy has been absolutely overwhelming in a very positive way. Amy has been surrounded by her friends and family throughout this ordeal with many of her local friends literally lining up to visit her when they can. Phone Calls and texts with people reaching out in support have been coming in at such a high rate it has been hard to keep up with them as she has gone in and out of surgery.

Many of you have been asking what you can do for her or what you can bring her while she is going through this tough time. With this in mind, we have decided to set this GoFundMe page up to not only help Amy cover some of her healthcare costs as she receives treatment and medical care but also help keep everyone up-to-date on how she is doing.

Thank you so much for thinking of Amy during her time of need, and she will look forward to seeing all of you once she is recovered from her accident!
