Help Amy Rose Recover

We come to Amy-Rose’s community today equal parts excited, nervous and hopeful for the future. As many of us know, Amy-Rose has been on a journey since the age of 16, battling & surviving a chronic brain condition. During brain surgery in 2012 it was discovered the mass in Amy’s brain could not be safely removed without causing paralysis and possibly death. This led to an increase in the number and dose of medications needed to control symptoms. Though this has worked in the short term, the amount of medication has taken a toll on Amy’s body that will inevitably become fatal if not remedied.
There is currently a new surgery that allows for treatment of the mass located in Amy’s brain without removing it. The surgery is not without danger though, as it will be Amy-Rose’s second craniotomy. Surgeons and neurologists do believe this is the best option currently for not only quality of life but to extend life. The surgery is not considered curative, but palliative - though the team seems very hopeful for promising outcomes. The surgery does require a 4-5-month recovery time, in which Amy will be off work and does not qualify for any short-term disability due to pre-existing clauses. Doctors have advised Amy to look into disability in case she has to be off work for large amounts of time in the future, and her support system is currently helping with this, but it is a long process and she fully hopes to be back to work when medically cleared. We are thankful for a strong support of friends and family who will be able to stay with Amy-Rose the weeks and months post-surgery.
As we all know, these procedures come at a cost. For Amy, these costs have been quite staggering over the years. In an effort to help her heal, we are asking you to help cover some of the costs mentioned below by donating through this GoFundMe campaign.
• Hospital Account MUST Be Made “current” Prior to Surgery $1500
• Travel & Lodging Around Surgery and Post-Op (Hospital is Over 3 Hours Away) $1000
• Missed Work (Recovery is Suspected to be 4 Months) $4000
• Miscellaneous (House Sterilization, Prescriptions, Medical Equipment) $500
Doctors are stressing now that the most important thing is to be as healthy & happy prior to surgery to improve the chances of the best possible outcome. We come to you now to ask if we can relieve her of some financial concerns as she seeks her most healthy & happy life in preparation for what will be a difficult, but important journey. A journey that could potentially let us have Amy-Rose around longer. A journey she nearly opted out of due to concerns about money and being a burden. This is our chance to show up for Amy-Rose as she has shown up for many of us.
If you are unable to contribute financially, we have also included her address for mail or cards below. Thank you for supporting Amy-Rose!
