Help Amy Stroud kick cancer's butt
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Denise Whaley, and I'm raising money to help my friend Amy Stroud pay for unexpected medical bills.
Amy is a nurse practitioner, much more used to giving attention and care to those around her, and she needs help.
In March, Amy was diagnosed with diabetes after going into Diabetic ketoacidosis. Since then, the doctors have tried to control her blood sugars, and now she takes two different insulins five times a day. She started continuous glucose monitoring in May; this has helped a lot with no more fingersticks.
In March, an annual mammogram came back abnormal, leading to a diagnostic mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy. Amy has early Ductal carcinoma in situ, stage zero, which means mammograms and ultrasounds every 6 months to monitor closely. The mass will only be removed if it grows.
Then in April, she had an abnormal annual PAP with high-level squamous cells. A colposcopy showed cancer cells, stage 2, in multiple spots. Amy had a loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) on June 11 and started high dose brachytherapy (radiation). A second LEEP was completed on July 12, followed by a referral to a gynecological oncologist. A third LEEP was performed on August 24. This procedure confirmed the squamous cell and adenocarcinoma diagnosis.
Amy had a total hysterectomy on Sept 6 to remove her uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, lymph node, endocervical glands, and adhesions involving her bladder and large intestine. She was in surgery for more than 6 hours.
After 4 weeks of recovery, she started chemotherapy, and it continues. CT scans will be performed to ensure no progression of the cancer.
During the surgery, Amy sustained damage to the ilioinguinal nerve, resulting in significant pain that required a nerve block. Unfortunately, nerve blocks are only temporary. Another block is scheduled for December 6.
Multiple doctors blame COVID or the COVID vaccine, as Amy had both. It doesn't matter if it is to blame or not, as it doesn't change the outcome.
All these expenses have depleted her savings and monies donated to her to cover the breast cancer concerns. Earnings have been used for medical bills, excluding housing and other living expenses. Without your kind and generous assistance, her treatment may stop.
Please give what you can and share this far and wide.
Thank you,
Denise
