Help an Afghan Refugee Student Realize His Dream

Hello, my name is Aman Agah, I am an American PhD student at Oregon State University, and have created this GoFundMe in community with Abdul’s friends and extended family.

 

Abdul is a 21 year-old man who had to flee his home country, Afghanistan, in the recent evacuation after the Taliban takeover. He was very young when he lost his father and is now seeking a better life here in the United States. Like thousands of other Afghan refugees, Abdul is now safe in the United States, and seeking a life of freedom, respect, and opportunity. Because local resettlement agencies are prioritizing families, and Abdul is on his own, he has been unable to receive assistance for basic needs - from housing to asylum support.

 

Abdul is currently unable to attend school, work, or secure residency because of his immigration and documentation status. Due to this, Abdul is relying on the generosity of those within the Afghan community and others for support with daily needs.

 

Through this platform, Abdul seeks our support in stabilizing a lawful residency here in the U.S. and continuing his education in computer science, which he could not finish due to the Taliban’s solidification of power.

This GoFundMe has been established to raise funding for Abdul’s legal fees, the total of which is $12,000.

Because Abdul is unable to open a bank account, I am collecting these funds on his behalf, to ensure this money goes to recruit an attorney and daily expenses. After discussing with several attorneys, we came to this estimated amount.

 

We have set the goal for the funds to be raised by January 1, 2022. Please help Abdul ring in the New Year with hope that will be fulfilled with your support.

 

Abdul is already so grateful to the American people for saving his life and the lives of thousands of Afghans by bringing them to safety. These funds will allow Abdul to continue to show and extend his gratitude to this nation, which upholds human rights, by becoming a responsible citizen of this country and contributing to the American dream.
