Help a Sculptor Stay in His Studio and Keep Creating!

Donation protected
My name is Edgar, and my life has been a journey shaped by resilience, creativity, and passion. Born near the end of World War II in Budapest, Hungary, I lived through the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, and my family and I escaped to find freedom here in the US.

I’ve made things since I was a young boy and felt compelled to create- I was an artist before I knew it. For over a quarter century, I made and designed jewelry, masqueraded as a carpenter, was a wannabe blacksmith, and then became a welder, metal fabricator, and finally, but not least, a sculptor.

For over 25 years, I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into my sculptures—works that blend humor, whimsy, and a deep love for line and form. My motto is, “I weld for money, but I sculpt for love.”

However, this past year has been one of the toughest I’ve ever faced. I’ve struggled both emotionally and financially, living with bipolar disorder and ADHD, which have made it difficult to keep up with life’s demands. Despite these challenges, my art has always been my anchor. Yet now, I’m at risk of losing my home and studio, where I’ve lived and created for the past 10 years.

My rent recently increased from $1,500 to $2,500, and I’ve fallen behind, now owing $10,000 in back rent. I’m facing eviction by the end of the year. I have nowhere to go, and finding a new space to live and create in Petaluma is nearly impossible.

I’m asking for your help to keep a roof over my head and give me the chance to keep creating. With your support, I can pay off the back rent, secure a two-year lease, and continue working on my sculptures. This would allow me the breathing room to focus on my art—my life’s work—and explore new markets where my pieces can find a home.
Your generosity will allow me to finish major projects, acquire the materials I need, and, above all, keep doing what I love: creating art that brings joy, sparks thought, and reflects the world around us.

Please take a moment to view my work at edgarharis.com and consider donating. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help me stay in the place where my creativity can flourish.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support.

With gratitude,
Edgar
