Help an elderly mother keep a roof over her head!

My name is Adi Vaxman; I live in Fair Lawn and am known in the Jewish and Israeli communities in Bergen Country and NYC for helping people in need. I have had my share of difficult times and am always happy to help rally a community when someone is in need. I run several community Facebook groups and am a member of the IAC Gvanim community group - an amazing group of people who are always eager and happy to help others in our community.

I was approached by a member of our Gvanim group, a local restaurant owner who is always the first to volunteer, donate and help anyone in need and always goes above and beyond to be on the giving side.

He asked for my help in assisting a Jewish mother and daughter whom he had known for over twenty years and who are in dire need of help. Below is their story.

Olga Lewin, 77, and her adult daughter Rosen reside in Fort Lee. Olga and Rosen had always been able to provide for themselves and never asked anyone for anything. In 2020, Olga began experiencing severe debilitating pain and due to a Medicare administrative error and the closures of the Covid pandemic, was not able to receive treatment. For nearly a year, Olga's medical condition deteriorated, and she was no longer able to work. Her daughter Rosen was doing odd jobs and trying to help support her mom, but that was not enough, and the family began accumulating debt and medical bills that they could not pay.

As of October 2022, Olga is awaiting a hip replacement surgery scheduled for December 6th and is homebound. Her daughter Rosen cares for her mother and can work less and less. In the last few months, things have become so difficult financially that they have not been able to pay the rent and were served with an eviction notice if they do not pay their $12,000 in back owed rent before November 1.

After surgery, Olga will be unable to work for a few months while she goes through rehab and physical therapy.

Olga and Rosen are requesting the community's help in paying their back rent, electric and gas bills, and medical bills so that Olga can undergo surgery and they will not get evicted on November 1st.

Please help this sweet mother and daughter pair to keep the roof over their heads while Olga is awaiting surgery and pay for their basic needs for a few months post-surgery.

קבוצה מדהימה של אנשים שתמיד שמחים לעזור ולתרום לחברי קהילה במצוקה.

אחד מחברי הקבוצה - חבר קרוב ואדם נפלא - בעל מסעדה באיזור שתמיד מתנדב לעזור, לתרום ולהתנדב עבור הקהילה, פנה אלי בבקשה לסייע לזוג נשים מבוגרות, אמא ובת, אשר הוא מכיר כבר למעלה מעשרים שנה ושנקלעו למצב כלכלי ורפואי קשה ועל סף לאבד את קורת הגג מעל ראשן. הקמפיין הזה הוא עבורן.

אולגה לוין, בת 77, ובתה המבוגרת רוזן, מתגוררות בפורט לי. אולגה ורוזן תמיד הצליחו להתפרנס בכבוד, ומעולם לא ביקשו דבר מאיש, עד לאחרונה.

בשנת 2020 החלה אולגה לסבול מכאבים משתקים. בגלל טעות אדמיניסטרטיבית במדיקייר והסגרים של מגיפת הקורונה, אולגה לא יכלה לקבל טיפול רפואי משך קרוב לשנה. מצבה הרפואי התדרדר והיא לא יכלה ללכת או לעבוד. בתה רוזן אשר עבדה בעבודות מזדמנות וסייעה בכלכלת הבית לא הצליחה לעמוד בנטל לבדה והמשפחה צברה חובות רבים וחשבונות רפואיים אשר לא עלה בידן לשלם.

נכון לאוקטובר 2022 אולגה מחכה לניתוח החלפת ירך אשר נקבע ל6 בדצמבר, והיא מרותקת למיטה ולבית. הבת רוזן מטפלת באמה ויכולה לעבוד פחות ופחות. בחודשים האחרונים מצבן הכלכלי התדרדר עוד יותר עד אשר לא יכלו לשלם את דמי השכירות על דירתן וקיבלו צו פינוי מהדירה אם לא ישלמו את החוב בסך כמעט $12,000 לפני ה1 בנובמבר.

לאחר הניתוח, אולגה לא תוכל לעבוד עוד מספר חודשים כי תצטרך לעבור שיקום ופיזיותרפיה.

אולגה ורוזן מבקשות את עזרת הקהילה בתשלום חוב השכירות, חשבונות חשמל וגז וחשבונות רפואיים כדי לאפשר לאולגה לעבור את הניתוח ולמנוע מהזוג להשאר ללא קורת גג בחורף.

אנא עזרו לנו לסייע לשתיים לצאת מהמצב הקשה אליו נקלעו ולאפשר להן להישאר בדירתן עד הניתוח, וההחלמה, של אולגה.
