Fighting SEVIS Termination — One Semester Away from Graduation

Hi everyone,

I’m writing this in a moment of crisis. I am an international student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and I was on track to graduate next semester. However, due to unexpected events, my SEVIS record was terminated recently, putting everything I’ve worked so hard for at risk.

As a result, I’ve not only lost my student status, but also my on-campus job, which was my only source of income. That job helped support myself, and more importantly, my mother and younger sister in India. Since the sudden passing of my father from a heart attack last year, I have been the only support system for my family—emotionally and financially.

Now, with no income and my student status in jeopardy, I’m facing a terrifying reality:

I don’t have money to pay my rent or cover basic bills. I feel like I have no one to turn to financially, and I’m honestly so scared. This situation has shattered the stability I’ve tried so hard to maintain.

To fix this, I need to hire an immigration attorney to help fight the SEVIS termination and file for reinstatement. But immigration attorneys are extremely expensive—and without my job or any financial safety net, I simply don’t have the means to afford legal help.

I am doing everything I can to remain anonymous in this fundraiser, not because I’m ashamed, but because I’m deeply afraid. I fear the consequences of speaking out publicly while I am in such a vulnerable legal position. Please understand this is for my safety.
