Help an Iowa Mom Fight Mold and Save Her Home

A Fort Dodge, Iowa single mother of 2 has sadly been dealing with a mold issue beyond her capabilities. I am asking for help as her friend as she would like to remain anonymous at this time.

Sadly, an inlet valve leak caused the water heater to explode, making her basement act as a sauna. With that came mold. At this time, her insurance has thankfully provided a hotel for her and her 2 children to stay in during demolition to the basement, mold removal, and rebuilding. She is currently struggling with the financial side, needing to have all the mold removed by the end of the week.

Her insurance provides $10k for all the mold removal while ServePro quoted her $27k, something she does not have to shell out. She has begun the demolition herself to attempt getting the job done but is not sure what to do going forward with the mold issue. She has until the end of the week to remove all of the mold; otherwise, her insurance will condemn the house.

Knowing her, she works so hard to keep her kids happy and safe; seeing their home as unlivable is just unfathomable. Any amount of donation is extremely appreciated. She works long, hard hours in health care as a nurse, and she doesn't have a lot of time to work on the basement. We are looking for other companies that may be able to remove the mold at a lesser price at this time. We have reached out to many mold removal companies in the area and are waiting to hear word back from them as we are rushed for time. Again, any donations are beyond appreciated as well as tips, advice, and physical help.

Update- Samantha Baardson has been extremely appreciative of every single person who has donated. It helps so much!! Working with different people, it seems like the new quote for mold removal is $17k with the demolition started. This means we need roughly $6k to get this done!!
