Hi, my name is Mayte. In June of 2016 my mom, Ana, was diagnosed with breast cancer. In July of 2016 she got her first port placement and began her first round of chemotherapy. Unfortunately throughout the 6 months or so of treatment, she was not able to work due to the strong medication and effects of the chemotherapy. After a total of 14 rounds of chemotherapy and a lumpectomy, the doctors said the worst was over and she was cancer free. Fast forward two years, November 2018, a biopsy came back with test results positive for breast cancer once again. On December 21, 2018, my mom had a mastectomy, in which both of her breasts were removed, and breast reconstruction. Since then she’s been in recovery and has not been able to work. We hoped that after the mastectomy this nightmare would come to an end, but unfortunately the mastectomy was not enough and the doctors decided to do chemotherapy treatment again. Although not fully healed from surgery, my moms first round of chemotherapy for the second time will be April 11, 2019. We are not sure yet how long these rounds of chemotherapy will last and how long it will be until my mom is fully recovered, but we are praying that everything will be okay. Sadly this means she cannot return to work yet. We have applied multiple times to disability services but have been denied each time. We’ve been contacting out-reach programs that help families with financies but still haven’t received any reply. Thankfully we have been making it by with savings, and help from family and friends. But these expenses are stacking up and we need help from anyone who is willing. No contribution is too small, anything is greatly appreciated. We thank everyone who took the time to read this. Please SPREAD THE WORD and help my mom fight this disease! Thank you, God bless!
