Help Anchorage Police Officer Recover
Donation protected
In the early morning hours of March 18th, 2022, an Anchorage Police Department Patrol Officer was shot in the line of duty while attempting to arrest a suspect who had assaulted another person with a hammer. The suspect shot at officers and struck one in the lower body multiple times. The injured officer was extricated from the scene by other officers, tourniquets were applied, and he was transported to the hospital.
The officer has undergone multiple surgical procedures and remains in critical condition. The officer and his family face a challenging recovery. The officer’s recovery will require a significant time commitment by his spouse and family. The officer’s spouse will be unable to work for an extended time while providing care for the officer. In addition, the family will incur many unexpected expenses as they adjust to the injured officer’s physical challenges during the recovery. All contributions to this fund will be used to meet the needs of the wounded officer and his family.
Update 3/21/2022 7 PM
When I started this, I hoped the community might meet the families' expenses for one month. The officer's family and I are are amazed by the outpouring of generosity demonstrated over the last 24 hours.
I cannot provide any details of the officer’s condition at this time, other than to say he is still in the hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.
The officer’s spouse has begun the process with GoFundMe to be a beneficiary, enabling funds to be disbursed to the family directly.
When the time is right, I hope to provide a note directly from the officer’s family. As you would expect, they are overwhelmed right now and still processing the entire incident.
Looking forward, I wonder if it is possible we might come together and meet all of the families' expenses for 6 months. Please join me by donating as you can to reach this new goal.
