He is a fighter! Help us to fight through this..

We are reaching out to you on behalf of Janith Weerakoon, an enthusiastic individual who always gave back to community no matter what. He is a past pupil of Mahanama College and Ceylon German Technical Institute in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was reaching his life goals doing his dream job as an automobile mechanic at Toyota, Victoria, Australia and pursuing further studies in the same field.

Eight months ago, his life turned upside down after diagnosing with a rare stage 4 brain cancer - Glioblastoma involving his left parietal lobe of the brain. He underwent a brain surgery (first craniotomy) to remove the malignant brain tumour at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, VIC, Australia. He has been suffering from severe weakness in his left side of the body since then. Despite his own struggles, he has been motivating and encouraging us to fight through this battle. He has been a great influence on the whole family - with his positive attitude and resilient mindset.

Unfortunately, his health condition deteriorated rapidly last month because of local tumour/ cancer recurrence and admitted to Asiri Surgical Hospital, Colombo, Sri Lanka to receive further treatments and comfort care. He went into a respiratory arrest on 21st October because of increased pressure in the brain and admitted to Neuro Intensive Care Unit in Asiri Central Hospital, Colombo, Sri Lanka under the care of Doctor Sunil Perera - Neuro Surgeon. They decided to do an emergency brain surgery (his second craniotomy) on the same day to save his life. The surgery was done on 21st October and Janith is staying in Neuro Intensive Care Unit since then. He is showing speed recovery after the surgery and doctors were able to remove his ventilator and intubation on the first day post-surgery.

His family was able to carry the financial burden caused by medical bills, treatments, frequent hospital visits, physiotherapy, disability care and etc. from last February to recent events.

After recent surgery, Janith is heading towards a long recovery journey which includes a comprehensive health care. The hospital is aiming total cost of LKR 8 million/ AUD 40,000 including LKR 3 million/ AUD 15,000 for the surgery and LKR 300,000/ AUD 1,500 per day at Neuro ICU. As his family, our one and only determination to provide him maximum healthcare and comfort possible. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to afford this huge cost and decided to reach out kind hearted donors around the world.
